About this course

Studying workplace risk assessment

This 1-2-hour course is aimed at managers, supervisors, team leaders and staff involved in workplace assessments. Hazard identification and the evaluation of likelihood and severity are syllabus topics, alongside control measures. A separate module covers recording, communicating and reviewing assessments, so the course addresses what happens after the initial assessment as well as its preparation.

The course introduces a five-step approach. For a role with wider responsibility for safe working systems, compare Health and Safety Level 3.

Care staff assessing risks to individuals should also compare Risk Assessing in Adult Residential Settings, which includes positive risk-taking and person-centred approaches. COSHH training covers hazardous-substance assessment, exposure and control measures.
