The Mental Capacity Act curriculum

Mental Capacity is a 20-minute course for care workers, nurses, social workers and other health and social care staff. It introduces the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its five principles, with England and Wales as the named Act’s scope. Further modules cover capacity assessment, best-interests decisions, lasting powers of attorney, advance decisions and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

Care Planning looks at the wider process of assessing needs, setting goals and reviewing support. Safeguarding Adults covers a different set of topics, including abuse, concerns and disclosures.
