First Aid Awareness Online Course

Develop essential first aid awareness skills with this CPD accredited online course, designed to give you the confidence and knowledge to respond effectively in a medical emergency at work. The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate first aid arrangements, and this course helps employees understand their role within that framework. You will learn how to assess an emergency scene safely, carry out primary and secondary surveys, perform CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED). The course also covers how to treat common workplace injuries including bleeding, burns, fractures, sprains, and choking, as well as how to manage an unconscious casualty and recognise the signs of shock, seizures, and cardiac arrest. While this is an awareness-level course and does not replace a full practical first aid at work qualification, it provides a solid foundation of knowledge that is valuable for all employees. It is particularly useful as a refresher for appointed first aiders, as an introduction for new staff, or as part of a broader workplace health and safety training programme. The HSE recommends that all employees have a basic understanding of first aid, regardless of whether they hold a formal first aid at work certificate.
